How much and how often to feed a puppy
Meals by age, how to tell if the amount is right, and how to switch foods without an upset tummy.

The right amount depends on your puppy’s age, expected adult size and the food itself. Start with the guide on the bag, then adjust by watching your puppy’s body, not the bowl.
Meals by age

Large and giant breeds grow for longer and benefit from a food made for large-breed puppies. Ask your vet.
Frequently asked questions
How many times a day should a puppy eat?
A common guide is 4 meals a day from 8 to 12 weeks, 3 meals from 3 to 6 months, and 2 meals from about 6 months. Your vet may adjust this for your puppy.
Should I leave food out all day?
Set meal times usually work better. They help with potty training and let you notice quickly if your puppy goes off their food.
